John
Moss was born in Waterloo County, Ontario in 1940. He swam the Hellespont
in 1962 and has since travelled widely, especially in the Arctic.
He has received awards in a variety of marathon sports. A professor
of Canadian literature at the University of Ottawa, he held the
Craig Dobbin Chair of Canadian Studies at University College Dublin,
1997-98. He has written and edited some twenty books that range
from meditation to memoir and poetry to poetics. He has lectured
and done readings through much of Canada and Europe, as well as
in the United States, Japan, India, Australia, Greenland, and the
Canary Islands. He lives with his wife, Beverley, in Peterborough,
ON.
