Chava Rosenfarb (1923-2011) was one of the most important Yiddish novelists, poets, and writers of the second half of the twentieth century. Among her works is Survivors: Seven Short Stories, published by Cormorant. To open the 2012 Ashkenaz Festival, acclaimed singer/actress Theresa Tovadirects and features in a wide-ranging tribute evening, including readings, musical performances, and archival photos, footage and recordings of Rosenfarb herself. Tova will be joined by a stellar cast of performers/presenters, including Rosenfarb’s daughter Goldie Morgentaler, professor of English literature at the University of Lethbridge and co-translator of much of her mother’s work.
